Huckleberry Ridge Hunting Preserve – NC Whitetail Deer Hunting
As part of our deer management
program here at Huckleberry Ridge, we plant and maintain various forages and pasture crops
year round, including corn, chicory, rape, soybean,
peanuts, clover, sweet potatoes, sugar beets, lespedeza, and a mix of small
grains to
attract the native whitetail deer to our game preserve and provide the nutrients
necessary to develop massive antlers. These food sources amongst our over
2000 acres of mixed
oak woods (for acorns), pastures and bottomland along the Tar River, Deep Creek,
Swift Creek,
and Fishing Creek that make up our hunting preserve and offer the perfect habitat
for whitetail deer to breed and multiply.
Huckleberry Ridge has a total of 36
deer hunting stands
including 20 box stands (that will accommodate two hunters), 10 mobile stands,
and 6 tree stands (suitable for a single hunter or one hunter with one child).
